(Dunedin) Francisco Mejia set the tone for a push seven points in 11 ^th  inning with a single to two points on Monday afternoon, and the Tampa Bay Rays have earned a 11 ^th  straight win, 14- 8 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Suddenly, the Rays came close to winning their team record for the longest streak in their history. In 2004, calling themselves the Devil Rays, they won 12 straight games under manager Lou Piniella.

They also swept the four-game series against the Blue Jays and took exclusive possession of the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Division of the American League.

As for the Blue Jays, they suffered a sixth straight loss.

After both teams had scored two runs in each 10 ^th  inning to bring the score 7-7, the Rays have exploded.

Mejia's hit came at the expense of Joel Payamps (0-2) as the cushions were all occupied. Randy Arozarena produced a run using a double, Austin Meadows extended the Rays lead with a ground ball, Manuel Margot drove two teammates home with a triple and Mike Brosseau crowned the backfire with a simple good for a point against Tim Mayza.

Mejia had hit a grand slam in the 12 ^th  round in winning 9-7 against the Blue Jays on Friday night.

Some 24 hours after the Rays walked off five walks in a four-point push in the ninth inning en route to a 6-4 win, their hitters received seven more free passes on Monday. Meanwhile, the Rays pitchers have conceded no walks.

The Rays took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, propelled by a grand slam from Joey Wendle.

In the loss, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. slammed two home runs, bringing his season-to-date total to 15, including 11 at TD Ballpark, the Florida home of the Toronto team since the start of the season.

He first turned up a Ryan Yarbrough throw 461 feet from home plate, to center field, in the fourth inning. He added a two-run homer in the eighth against Ryan Thompson to bring the score 5-5.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Teoscar Hernandez and Marcus Semien also hit long balls for the Blue Jays.

Semien hit his home run in the tenth inning, a two-point hit against Jeffrey Springs (4-1) that allowed the Blue Jays to tie the score 7-7.

From 1 ^st  of June, the Blue Jays play their home games in Buffalo since the restrictions related to Covid-19 in Canada does not allow them to play in Toronto.
