(New York) New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich will have a hearing before the Disciplinary Prefect, the NHL Player Safety Department announced on its official Twitter account Thursday morning.

Buchnevich will have to explain the double check he served to Quebec Capitals forward Anthony Mantha, early in the second period of the eventful game that ended 4-2 in favor of the Washington club on Wednesday night.

There was only one second to go into the game when all three forwards from both teams, Nic Dowd, Carl Hagelin and Garnet Hathaway of the Capitals, and Kevin Rooney, Colin Blackwell and Phillip Di Giuseppe of the Rangers, respectively, threw away the gloves.

Exactly 49 seconds later, Tom Wilson, the man at the center of all this animosity since the start of the week, got into a fight with Brendan Smith.

In total, referees Ian Walsh and TJ Luxmore handed out 100 penalty minutes in the first period, including 56 to Rangers.

On Tuesday, Wilson was fined US $ 5,000 for an act committed against Buchnevich.

Wilson received a double minor penalty for harshness and game misconduct, in which he punched Buchnevich during a scrum. The latter was face down on the ice.

Wilson then threw Artemi Panarin onto the playing surface. Panarin missed the rest of the game with a lower body injury, the Rangers said. Panarin will no longer play this season.
