(Miami) Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins for at least another week, further delaying Tua Tagovailoa's NFL debut.

The Dolphins announced on Twitter Tuesday that Fitzpatrick would get the start in San Francisco on Sunday.

This announcement ends speculation that coach Brian Flores was about to turn to Tagovailoa, selected with the fifth overall pick in the last draft.

The 37-year-old Fitzpatrick recently described his career as a roller coaster and it has been this season with the Dolphins (1-3). In two games, he had four touchdown passes and no interceptions. In the other two games, including Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, he didn't get a touchdown pass on five interceptions.

Two of the four quarterbacks selected in the first round this year - Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers - are already starters and played well on Sunday.
